This is the beginning of our path to create a healthy nation
White Bear First Nation – Chief Pasap reports, “Today, February 12th, there were eviction notices served to four known drug dealers. The White Bear First Nations drug by-law was used to enforce this necessary action.
“The safety and health of our people are the top priority and drugs are harming our people. Not only that they are robbing us of our culture and hurting our community. Young people are losing their lives to drugs. There is a constant cloud over our nation that we can all feel.
“The decision to evict was made possible by the support and backing of the people of our nation.
“I pray for our community and the impacted people and I pray that we can all have a safe, healthy and bright future.
“The bravery of our community members does not go unnoticed. Because of you wanting a healthy and safe nation the drug by-law was enforced. Thank you to our nation members who joined in serving the eviction notices.”
Many community members are dealing with the results of illegal drugs being sold in their communities. From families being torn apart by drug and alcohol addiction, to the devastating impact of overdose deaths, the impact of drug dealers on First Nations is massive.
Dealing with the ramifications, communities like White Bear First Nation are taking steps to save the youth in their community.
