Fort Frances Traffic Stop Leads to Multiple Drug Trafficking Charges

Rainy River OPP Seize Cocaine, Fentanyl, and Methamphetamine

FORT FRANCES, ON – A routine traffic stop in Fort Frances has resulted in the arrest of four individuals on multiple drug-related charges, including possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime.

Traffic Stop Uncovers Drug Trafficking Operation

On February 11, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., officers from the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop that led to a criminal investigation. A male passenger in the vehicle was found to be in breach of his release conditions, prompting a further search.

During the investigation, police discovered and seized:

  • $3,300 in Canadian currency (suspected proceeds of crime)
  • 24 grams of suspected cocaine
  • 5 grams of methamphetamine
  • 13 grams of fentanyl

As a result, four individuals were taken into custody and charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) and the Criminal Code of Canada.

Gabriel Tuesday, 33, of Big Grassy First Nation

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Breach of Release Order (4 counts) (Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code)

Tuesday was held for a bail hearing on February 12, 2025, and remanded to Fort Frances Jail.

Kamryn Singleton, 23, of Couchiching First Nation

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code)

Singleton was remanded to Fort Frances Jail following a bail hearing on February 12, 2025.

Bradley Dustin, 54, of Fort Frances, ON

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code)

Dustin was released from custody following a bail hearing on February 12, 2025.

Reeva Cheifson, 30, of Fort Frances, ON

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (Section 5(2), CDSA)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code)

Cheifson was released from custody following a bail hearing on February 12, 2025.


Potential Penalties for Charges

Under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, trafficking in Schedule I substances (such as fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine) can lead to severe penalties, including:

  • Up to life imprisonment for trafficking or possession for the purpose of trafficking in Schedule I drugs.
  • Minimum sentences may apply in cases involving aggravating factors, such as organized crime involvement or trafficking near schools.

For the Criminal Code violations:

  • Breach of Release Order (Section 145(5)(a)) can result in up to two years imprisonment.
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Under $5,000 (Section 354(1)(a)) carries a penalty of up to two years imprisonment if prosecuted as an indictable offence or a fine and/or imprisonment up to two years less a day if prosecuted summarily.
