Thunder Bay – Living – The City of Thunder Bay invites everyone to embrace the winter season with the return of SnowDay on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, this Family Day – Monday, Feb. 17, at Marina Park. Attendees can participate in a variety of fun and free activities, including voting for this year’s favourite snow sculptures. Everyone is welcome!
Snow Sculpture Competition
The much-anticipated Snow Sculpture Competition returns with five teams showcasing their incredible artistic creations. Visitors are invited to admire the sculptures and vote for their favourites online and in person from Monday, Feb. 17, until 4pm on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025.

- Vote in-person at SnowDay on the Waterfront and throughout the week at the Water Garden Pavilion.
Visitors are encouraged to take photos with the sculptures from outside designated fenced areas. Climbing, sitting, or leaning on the sculptures is prohibited, as it may compromise their structure. Weather permitting, the sculptures will remain on display until March 3.
Event Activities
SnowDay on the Waterfront activities run from 11am to 4pm and includes a variety of indoor and outdoor fun:
- Ice fishing on the pond with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters
- Science of snowy sport with Science North
- Heritage hot chocolate and campfire fun with Parks Canada
- Indoor programming with The Boreal Museum and Thunder Bay Museum
- Indoor and outdoor art programming with the Community Arts & Heritage Education Project
- Horse-drawn wagon rides with New Canaan Farm Clydesdales
- Sugar shack with Club culturel francophone de Thunder Bay and Canada West Maple
- Crokicurl rink
- Fire pit warming stations
- Snowshoeing
- Skating
- And much more!
