Suspect Tries to Disarm Officer, Injures Two During Arrest in Thunder Bay

THUNDER BAY, ON – A Thunder Bay man faces multiple charges after attempting to disarm an officer and injuring two others while resisting arrest.

Thunder Bay Police Service Primary Response officers were dispatched to the 100 block of Syndicate Avenue South to apprehend a suspect wanted on an outstanding warrant.

Suspect Resists, Injures Officers

Upon arrival, the suspect attempted to flee but was quickly caught. During the arrest, the male suspect tried to grab an officer’s firearm and assaulted three officers as they attempted to place him in a police cruiser. Two officers sustained injuries in the struggle.

Charges and Court Appearance

Timothy Dominic BRISARD, 40, of Thunder Bay, has been charged with:

  • Three counts of Assaulting a Peace Officer
  • Obstructing a Peace Officer
  • Attempting to Disarm a Peace Officer

The accused appeared in court on Wednesday and remains in custody pending a future court date.
