Police Execute Search Warrant, Seizing Drugs and Cash—Tips on Spotting a Trap House and Staying Safe

DRYDEN, ON – A drug trafficking investigation in Dryden has led to the arrest of two individuals following a search warrant executed by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Officers seized suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, hydromorphone, and oxycodone, along with over $51,000 in Canadian currency, reinforcing ongoing concerns about drug-related crime in Northwestern Ontario.

Warrant Executed on Mary Avenue Leads to Charges

On February 5, 2025, just before 4:30 p.m., the Dryden OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from Red Lake OPP and local officers, raided a residence on Mary Avenue in Dryden.

The operation resulted in the arrest of:

Alicia SKY, 35, of Dryden

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (4 counts)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000

A 17-year-old male from Toronto (Name Withheld)

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (4 counts)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Breach of recognizance

Both individuals remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice – Dryden on February 7, 2025.

Trap houses—residences used for drug distribution—can be hidden in plain sight. Here are warning signs to watch for:

  • Unusual Traffic: Frequent visitors at odd hours, with people staying only for a short time.
  • Blocked Windows or Security Cameras: Windows covered to prevent visibility or excessive security measures.
  • Unkempt Property: Signs of neglect, such as overgrown yards or garbage accumulation.
  • Frequent Deliveries: Large amounts of foot or vehicle traffic, particularly from out-of-town vehicles.
  • Strange Behaviour: Individuals displaying erratic behaviour or appearing under the influence.
