Investigation Leads to Seizure of Over $25,000 in Suspected Drugs

Thunder Bay Police seize over $25,000 in suspected drugs, arresting two in a north-side raid on Picton Ave

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Two Thunder Bay residents are facing multiple drug-related charges following a police raid at a north-side residence earlier this week.

The Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) Intelligence Unit had been investigating suspected drug trafficking activities and secured a search warrant for a residence on Picton Avenue. Officers executed the warrant on the evening of Wednesday, January 29, leading to the arrest of two individuals.

Significant Drug Seizure

During the search, officers seized suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and oxycodone, as well as drug paraphernalia consistent with trafficking operations. The estimated street value of the drugs exceeds $25,000, and police also confiscated over $5,000 in cash believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

Charges Laid

The following individuals have been charged:

  • Selena Lynn ESQUEGA, 39
  • Mary Anne PENAGIN, 34

Both are facing the following charges:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Cocaine)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Fentanyl)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Methamphetamine)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Oxycodone)
  • Possession of Proceeds of Crime Over $5,000

The accused appeared in court and have been remanded into custody pending future court dates.
