Highway closed for several hours as authorities responded to incident east of Thunder Bay
NIPIGON, ON — A small plane made an emergency landing on Highway 11 near Nipigon, Ontario, on Friday night, temporarily shutting down the highway in both directions.
Ontario 511 reported the closure, which lasted several hours before the road was reopened. Details about potential injuries or the number of occupants aboard the aircraft remain unclear.
A post on Skilled Truckers Canada’s Facebook page showed a single-engine propeller plane parked on the highway, appearing undamaged.
The Transportation Safety Board has acknowledged the incident and is gathering more information.
