THUNDER BAY, ONTARIO – Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) has announced that a murder charge has been laid following an investigation into a sudden death that occurred in December 2024.
On Saturday, December 14, 2024, TBPS officers discovered a deceased individual. The circumstances surrounding the death prompted the involvement of the Major Crimes Unit and the Forensic Identification Unit.
Arrest and Initial Charge
On Tuesday, December 17, 2024, a suspect was arrested by members of the Major Crimes Unit and Intelligence Unit. At that time, the accused was charged with Indignity to a Human Body.
Upgraded Charges
As the investigation progressed, additional evidence led to an upgraded charge of Second-Degree Murder.
The accused, identified as Levi Michael LAWSON, 24, appeared in court on Friday, January 31, 2025, and has been remanded into custody. A future court date has been scheduled.
