Firearm Incident on Bay Street Leads to Arrest and Multiple Charges
Thunder Bay Police arrest suspect after firearm incident on Bay Street. Multiple charges laid, including assault
Thunder Bay – NEWS – Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a reported firearm discharge and assault in the 200 block of Bay Street at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Friday, January 17. Fortunately, no one was struck or seriously injured during the incident.
Following an in-depth investigation, police identified a suspect connected to the firearm discharge. A planned high-risk arrest was conducted on Wednesday, January 22, in the 200 block of Amelia Street West.
Charges Laid Against Suspect
Andrew Robert GODFREY, 48, now faces several serious charges, including:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of a Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (5 counts)
GODFREY appeared in court on Thursday and has been remanded into custody. His next court date is pending.
