A Marten Falls man faces charges for assaulting a peace officer and failing to comply with an undertaking
Disturbance Call Leads to Arrest in Marten Falls
(MARTEN FALLS, ON) – A man has been arrested and charged after allegedly assaulting a peace officer responding to a disturbance call in the Marten Falls First Nation community on Tuesday, January 21.
Officers with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service (NAPS) from the Marten Falls detachment were dispatched to a residential address following reports of a disturbance during the afternoon hours.
Officer Assaulted During Incident
While addressing the situation, an officer was attacked by the accused. Fortunately, the officer did not sustain any serious injuries.
The accused was promptly taken into custody and transported to the local NAPS detachment, where he was held for a bail hearing.
Accused Remanded into Custody After Bail Hearing
The accused, identified as Collin Metawabin, 52, of Marten Falls First Nation, has been charged with:
- Assaulting a Peace Officer
- Failure to Comply with Undertaking
Metawabin appeared in court for a bail hearing on Wednesday, January 22, and was remanded into custody. He is scheduled to make a future court appearance.
