Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg Police Service responded to a distressing incident on January 18, 2025, involving a stabbing on Princess Street. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m., resulting in one individual hospitalized and another taken into custody.
Incident Details
Officers arrived at the 300 block of Princess Street after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, they found a 42-year-old male suffering from a serious upper-body injury.
Police administered emergency medical care on-site until paramedics transported the victim to the hospital. Initially listed in unstable condition, the victim’s status was later upgraded to stable.
Investigation and Arrest
The investigation revealed that the victim and a 33-year-old male suspect, previously unknown to one another, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated into violence. During the altercation, the suspect produced a sharp-edged weapon and stabbed the victim.
The suspect remained at the scene and was arrested without incident.
Charges and Release
The suspect, a Winnipeg resident, faces a charge of Assault with a Weapon. He was released on an Undertaking, as mandated by the Criminal Code.
