THUNDER BAY, ON – A 26-year-old suspect has been arrested following break-ins that caused significant damage to two businesses in the 600 block of Arthur Street West over the weekend.
Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) officers with the Primary Response Branch responded to the scene shortly after 7 a.m. on Saturday, January 11, after receiving reports of a break-in.
Incident Overview
Upon arrival, officers discovered that a suspect had smashed a window to gain entry into a business. Further investigation revealed damage to an adjacent business, which police believe was also targeted by the same individual.
The suspect fled on foot but was quickly apprehended by officers after a brief chase. Initially, the individual provided false names but was later identified as Yzerman Tyrell KAKEGAMIC, 26.
Charges Filed
KAKEGAMIC is facing multiple charges, including:
- Break and Enter to Commit an Indictable Offence (x2)
- Mischief Over $5,000
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Theft Under $5,000
- False Alarm of Fire
Court Appearance and Release
The accused appeared in court over the weekend and has since been released from custody. KAKEGAMIC has been given conditions to follow and is scheduled for a future court appearance.
