THUNDER BAY, ON – A 16-year-old male is facing numerous weapons-related charges following an early morning incident on Windsor Street.
Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) officers with the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the area shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Monday, January 13, after receiving reports of an individual in possession of weapons.
Incident Details
Upon arrival, officers interviewed witnesses and quickly located the suspect at a nearby residence. During the investigation, police seized a firearm and two edged weapons.
Charges Laid
The accused faces several charges, including:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing the Serial Number has been Tampered
- Possession of Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Mischief Under $5,000
- Failure to Comply with Sentence (x3)
- Possession of Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
- Breach of Recognizance
The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
Court Proceedings
The accused appeared in court and has been remanded into custody pending a future court date.
