City of Thunder Bay Snow Clearing Crews have started clearing major streets

Thunder Bay – News – After a significant winter storm brought 15–20 cm of snowfall to Thunder Bay, city crews are making steady progress in snow removal. Here’s the latest update on cleanup efforts across the city.

Road Plowing

  • Priority Routes: Plowing began at 2:00 AM, and all arterial, collector, and transit routes are now cleared.
  • Residential Streets: Plowing is in progress and is expected to be completed by Wednesday.

Sidewalk & Trail Plowing

  • Main Sidewalks: Plowing of arterial, collector, and core area sidewalks began at 3:00 AM and is nearing completion.
  • Residential Areas: Sidewalk and trail clearing will commence after priority routes, with completion anticipated by Thursday.

Road Sanding & Salting

Crews will continue applying sand and salt throughout the week to ensure safer conditions on residential streets and other areas as needed.
