Snowy Morning in Sudbury

Good morning, Greater Sudbury!

Weather Advisory in effect for:

  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity

Winter weather travel advisory in effect for this afternoon through tonight.

Hazards: Snow, with total accumulations of 7 to 14 cm possible by Saturday morning. Reduced visibility at times in heavy snow. Timing: This afternoon through tonight.

Light snow is expected to move into the region near noon today and intensify late this afternoon or this evening. Snow squalls could also develop off Georgian Bay and Lake Huron this afternoon that may affect portions of the area leading to locally higher snowfall amounts. Snow is expected to taper to flurries Saturday morning.

Poor weather conditions may contribute to transportation delays. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.

Tonight: A Snowy Night Ahead

Snow will intensify this evening, with an additional 5 to 10 cm of accumulation likely. Winds will shift to the southeast at 20 km/h before calming overnight. The low will drop to -9°C, and with wind chills, it will feel closer to -16°C. A cozy evening in sounds like the perfect plan.
