Thunder Bay Fire Rescue Responds to Late-Night Blaze

THUNDER BAY – A late-night fire caused significant damage to a home in the 100 block of Banning Street on Thursday. Thunder Bay Fire Rescue (TBFR) responded to the call around 11:30 p.m., dispatching additional trucks and an aerial ladder after receiving updates en route about the severity of the blaze.

Upon arrival, heavy smoke was visible from both the main and second floors. Fire crews quickly advanced a hose line to combat the flames, gaining entry to the home to extinguish the fire and search for any occupants. The fire was brought under control, and firefighters worked to ensure there was no further spread.

Fortunately, all occupants evacuated safely, though one pet tragically perished in the fire.

TBFR is reminding all residents of the legal requirement to have functioning smoke detectors on every level of their homes.
