THUNDER BAY, ON (December 9, 2024) – The Thunder Bay Police Service Board has re-appointed Ryan Hughes as Deputy Chief of Police for a two-year term.

Hughes has served with the Thunder Bay Police Service for 26 years, holding the Deputy Chief position since 2019. He has a proven track record of success in progressively responsible roles within the service.

“I appreciate the confidence of the Thunder Bay Police Service Board in my role as Deputy Chief,” said Hughes. “I look forward to working with Chief Fleury in supporting our members and the work we do in the community.”

Chief Darcy Fleury expressed his support for Hughes’ re-appointment, stating “In the past 1 1/2 years, I have seen Ryan’s commitment to the Police Service and community. He is a valued member of the Thunder Bay Police Service and is a respected senior police leader in the Province of Ontario.”

The Board echoed Fleury’s sentiments, emphasizing their confidence in Hughes’ leadership and commitment to positive change within the Service.

Hughes’ re-appointment coincides with the 26th anniversary of his becoming a sworn officer with the Thunder Bay Police Service.
