Quick action by firefighters limited damages and ensured safety, highlighting the importance of smoke alarms
THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Thunder Bay Fire Rescue (TBFR) responded to a structural fire on Brock Street East just before noon today after receiving multiple calls reporting visible smoke and flames from the residence.
Second Alarm Response Activated
Based on reports of one individual inside the home and another attempting to re-enter, the incident was upgraded to a second alarm.
Upon arrival, firefighters located an individual who had safely exited the building. However, the person had sustained burns while fleeing the fire. Superior North EMS treated the individual on the scene for smoke inhalation and non-life-threatening injuries before transporting them to Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for further care.
Swift Action Contained the Damage
The quick response of TBFR crews contained the fire, limiting damages to the main floor of the home, which sustained significant fire and smoke damage.
