WINNIPEG – Crimebeat – Winnipeg Police report another busy weekend. Here are a few of the incidents officers responded to.
Commercial Robbery – Gas Bar Targeted
On November 23rd, at approximately 10:30 PM, Winnipeg Police responded to a hold-up alarm at a gas bar in the 100 block of St. Anne’s Road. A male suspect entered the store, brandished a firearm, and stole cigarettes and cash. He fled southbound towards Fermor Avenue.
The suspect is described as a male in his early 20s, wearing a black jacket with silver zippers on the sleeves, black jeans, white shoes, and a black baseball cap with a silver sticker.
Robbery with a Weapon – Business Targeted
Early on November 24th, at approximately 1:53 AM, police responded to a robbery at a business in the 1100 block of St. Mary’s Road. Two suspects, one armed with a knife, entered the business and demanded money. They fled empty-handed.
Suspect 1 is described as a male in his early 20s, with a skinny build, approximately 5’8″ tall, wearing blue pants, a black toque, a dark sweater, and a dark vest.
Suspect 2 is described as a male in his 20s, with an average build, approximately 5’9″ tall, wearing a black cap, a black hoodie with a red logo, a red t-shirt, and blue jeans.
Firearm and Search Warrant – Arrest Made
On November 24th, at approximately 2:09 AM, police responded to a disturbance at a beer vendor in the 1600 block of Main Street. A male suspect, after being asked to leave by security, retrieved a firearm from his vehicle and attempted to re-enter the vendor. He fled before police arrival.
The suspect was later located and arrested. A search warrant executed at his residence resulted in the seizure of a modified 12-gauge shotgun, ammunition, and clothing.
33-year-old Alan COURCHENE has been charged with multiple firearm-related offenses, including Pointing a Firearm and Possession of a Weapon.
Robbery with a Firearm – Taxi Driver Robbed
Around 2:30 AM on November 24th, police responded to a report of a taxi driver being robbed at gunpoint in the 500 block of Spence Street. A female passenger produced a firearm and robbed the driver of cash and belongings.
The suspect is described as Indigenous in appearance, 30-32 years old, with a heavier build, round face, blonde hair, and wearing a black jacket and pants.
Commercial Robbery – Pharmacy Incident
On November 24th, at approximately 11:00 AM, police responded to a robbery at a pharmacy in the 900 block of Portage Avenue. A female suspect attempted to leave the store with concealed merchandise. When confronted by security, she assaulted him with an object and attempted to strike him with a sharp object. The merchandise was recovered.
The suspect is described as a female in her mid-20s, with a slight build, approximately 5’4″ tall, with orange-colored, shoulder-length hair.
