Thunder Bay, ON – This holiday season, Magnus Theatre invites audiences to embrace the magic of Christmas with ELF! THE MUSICAL, book by Thomas Meehan and Bob Martin, music by Matthew Sklar, and lyrics by Chad Begulin, based upon the New Line Cinema Film written by David Berenbaum. This heartwarming and hilarious production is a must-see for the entire family and runs on the Magnus Theatre Mainstage from November 28th to December 21st.
Directed by Thom Currie with musical direction by Danny Johnson and choreography by Makayla Moore, assistant directed by Paul Almeida, this festive extravaganza brings the story of Buddy the Elf to life like never before. Featuring a live six-piece band consisting of Johnson, Jeff Gibson (Reeds/Woodwinds), Glenn Jennings (Trumpet /Keyboard), Natalia Arroyo (Violin), Mark Soderlind (Bass), and Adam Houle (Drums/Percussion), and with dazzling performances and toe-tapping numbers, ELF! THE MUSICAL promises to spread cheer and remind us of the true meaning of Christmas.
Back at Magnus Theatre are the creative talents of Lighting Designer Rebecca Miller and Set Designer Michael O’Connor. Rebecca’s dynamic lighting design promises to dazzle audiences with festive magic, while Michael’s imaginative set captures the whimsical charm of Buddy the Elf’s world, from the North Pole to the bustling streets of New York City.
The cast of ELF! THE MUSICAL brings a delightful mix of energy and talent to the stage. Leading the cast are Alex Fellowes Smith as the endearing Buddy the Elf and Kate Blackburn as Jovie, both newcomers to the Magnus stage. They are joined by Magnus Theatre veteran Stephen Sparks as Walter Hobbs and local actor Amy Sellors as Emily Hobbs. Local students Chloe Sproule and Hannah Wheatley make their professional theatre debuts, sharing the role of Buddy’s half-brother Michael. Sandy Winsby rounds out the cast as the jolly Santa Claus. The production also features a vibrant ensemble of local and national performers, including Gaelan Beatty, Andrew Perry, Noah Boeckner, Trek Buccino, Ryan Maschke, Annick Robledo, Emma Vickers, Alexandra Grant, and Katherine Nemec.

Magnus Theatre’s ELF! THE MUSICAL runs from November 28 – December 21, 2024 (Preview November 28th, Opening November 29th). Performances are Tuesdays to Saturdays at 7:30pm on the Magnus Theatre Mainstage, with matinees at 12:00pm on Wednesdays and 2:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays. There will be a Pay What You Want Performance on Sunday November 30th at 2:00pm, and Relaxed Performances Wednesday December 4th at 12:00pm and Sunday December 8th at 2:00pm
