Royal Canadian Air Force to conduct flypasts for Remembrance Day commemorations

WINNIPEG – NEWS – The Royal Canadian Air Force will conduct flypasts for several Remembrance Day commemorations across Canada on November 11. These will be carried out by aircraft from Royal Canadian Air Force Wings throughout Canada at various times throughout the day.

In the National Capital Region, CF-18 Hornets will conduct flypasts over ceremonies at the National War Memorial, Beechwood Cemetery, and the Royal Canadian Legion in Orleans. Flypasts by Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft will also take place in other communities across Canada, as follows:

  • Alberta – Calgary (CF-18 Hornet); Edmonton (CH-146 Griffon); Lethbridge (CC-177 Globemaster); and Mannville (CH-146 Griffon).
  • British Columbia – Campbell River (CC-130H Hercules or CH-149 Cormorant); Comox (CC-130H Hercules or CH-149 Cormorant); Courtenay (CC-130H Hercules or CH-149 Cormorant); Cumberland (CC-130H Hercules or CH-149 Cormorant); Kamloops (CF-18 Hornet); Lantzville (CP-140 Aurora); Nanaimo (CP-140 Aurora); Qualicum Beach (CC-130H Hercules or CH-149 Cormorant); Sidney (CH-148 Cyclone); Vancouver (CP-140 Aurora); and Westwold (CF-18 Hornet).
  • Ontario – Arnprior (CH-147F Chinook); Campbellford (CC-130J Hercules); Carleton Place (CH-147F Chinook); Deep River (CH-147F Chinook); Madoc (CH-146 Griffon); Pembroke (CH-147F Chinook); Toronto (CC-144 Challenger); and Whitby (CC-130J Hercules).
  • New Brunswick – McAdam (CH-146 Griffon).
  • Newfoundland and Labrador – Happy Valley-Goose Bay (CH-146 Griffon).
  • Northwest Territories – Yellowknife (CC-138 Twin Otter).
  • Nova Scotia – Bridgewater (CH-149 Cormorant); Chelsea (CH-149 Cormorant); Chester (CH-149 Cormorant); Chester Basin (CH-149 Cormorant); Cole Harbour (CH-148 Cyclone); Dartmouth (CH-148 Cyclone); Halifax (CH-148 Cyclone); Kingston (CP-140 Aurora); Lunenburg (CH-149 Cormorant); New Germany (CH-149 Cormorant); New Ross (CH-149 Cormorant); Mahone Bay (CH-149 Cormorant); Parkdale (CH-149 Cormorant); Porters Lake (CP-140 Aurora); and Western Shore (CH-149 Cormorant).
  • Québec – Arvida (CH-146 Griffon); Chicoutimi (CF-18 Hornet); Courcelette (CH-146 Griffon); Montréal (CH-146 Griffon); St-Jean-sur-Richelieu (CH-146 Griffon); and Québec City (CH-146 Griffon).

The aircraft will fly over the events at an altitude no lower than 500 feet above the highest obstacle on their routes. Flypasts by Royal Canadian Air Force aircraft are carefully planned and closely controlled for public safety and are dependent upon weather and flying conditions.
