One New Wildland Fire Reported in Parry Sound District as Season Concludes
SAULT STE MARIE – Wildfire Update – Ontario’s 2024 fire season officially ends today, October 31, with one new wildland fire, Parry Sound 11, reported in the Northeast Region. This 0.2-hectare fire is located on a small island northeast of Foster Island in Georgian Bay and is currently being held by fire services.
Current Northeast Region Fire Activity
As of the latest update, two active fires remain in the Northeast Region:
- Parry Sound 11 (PAR011) – Held at 0.2 hectares.
- An observed fire – Status unchanged.
The overall fire hazard remains low across the region, with moderate conditions in localized areas around Carleton Place, Tweed, and Kawartha Lakes. Residents can check the current wildland fire danger rating on Ontario’s interactive fire map.
