Two suspects arrested in connection with a shooting in St. Boniface on September 1, 2024, as police continue to investigate
Winnipeg – NEWS – The Winnipeg Police Service Major Crimes Unit has made significant progress in the investigation of a shooting that occurred on September 1, 2024, at an apartment complex in the 100 block of Aubert Street in St. Boniface.
The shooting left a man in his 30s critically injured. He remains in serious but stable condition in hospital.
On the day of the incident, General Patrol officers, with support from the Tactical Support Team, responded to reports of a shooting at approximately 11:15 a.m.
Officers located the victim on a balcony with gunshot wounds and quickly transported him to the hospital. The investigation revealed that the victim and the suspects, previously unknown to each other, had become involved in a verbal altercation from their respective balconies.
This escalated when the suspects concealed their identities and discharged a firearm at the victim.
Arrests: On September 5, 2024, a 17-year-old male youth was arrested in connection with the shooting. Later, on September 11, police arrested a second 17-year-old male suspect in the 500 block of Notre Dame Avenue.
He has been charged with Aggravated Assault, Disguise with Intent, and multiple firearms-related offences and remains in custody.
Further investigation led to the identification of 18-year-old Jordan Jay Brandon Beardy as a suspect.
A warrant was issued for his arrest, and on October 12, 2024, officers arrested Beardy during an unrelated incident. He faces charges of Aggravated Assault, Disguise with Intent, and firearms-related offences and is also being held in custody.
The police are continuing their investigation and are appealing to the public for any information that could assist.
