What the Criminal Code Says About Murder

Under the Criminal Code of Canada, murder is defined as the intentional killing of another person. It is categorized into two types: first-degree murder, which is premeditated and planned, and second-degree murder, which is intentional but not premeditated. Both charges carry severe penalties, including a mandatory life sentence. The charge faced by the accused in this case will depend on the findings of the ongoing investigation.
