Northeast Fire Region
One new wildland fire was confirmed in the Northeast Region on the evening of Saturday, September 28.
- North Bay 23 (NOR023): A 0.1-hectare fire located 2 kilometers east of Highway 11 and 1 kilometer south of Moyer Lake. This fire is now out.

The fire hazard across the Northeast Region remains mostly low to moderate, but high-risk areas are emerging on the western side, extending into the Northwest Region.

Outdoor Burning: Follow Ontario Regulations
As we move into fall, Aviation, Forest Fire, and Emergency Services urge the public to exercise caution when conducting any outdoor burning. Consider alternative methods like composting or using your local landfill for yard waste and woody debris. If you must burn, make sure you follow Ontario’s outdoor burning regulations:
- Fires must be ignited no earlier than two hours before sunset and fully extinguished two hours after sunrise.
- Always have proper tools and water on hand to control the fire.

No Drone Zone: Avoid Flying Near Forest Fires
Flying drones near forest fires is illegal and dangerous. Drones can disrupt firefighting operations and put pilots, firefighters, and emergency personnel at risk. Stay clear of forest fire zones.
Waterbombers: Give Them Space to Work
If you see a waterbomber approaching a lake or river, move close to the shore to allow the aircraft to safely scoop water. Waterbombers won’t scoop if watercraft are too close, posing a hazard. Stay safe by keeping your distance from waterbombers.
