Stay Safe: Outdoor Burning and Drone Regulations

As the season shifts to fall, Aviation, Forest Fire, and Emergency Services remind the public to use caution with outdoor burning. Residents are encouraged to use composting or local landfills for yard waste disposal. If burning is necessary, follow Ontario’s Outdoor Burning Regulations. Fires should be ignited no sooner than two hours before sunset and extinguished no later than two hours after sunrise. Always have water or tools available to control the fire.

Drones pose a serious hazard near wildfires and flying them in such areas is illegal. Stay clear of active fire zones to protect emergency personnel and firefighting efforts.

When waterbombers approach a body of water for scooping, ensure boats or watercraft are moved close to shore to avoid safety risks.
