Smoky Conditions Continue as Temperatures Drop in Saskatoon

Saskatoon is under an air quality advisory today due to wildfire smoke drifting in from northern Saskatchewan. As a result, visibility might be low and air quality could fluctuate throughout the day. The smoke could affect those sensitive to air pollution, including young children, seniors, and individuals with respiratory issues, so it’s best to limit outdoor activities.

For tonight, expect the skies to remain partly cloudy with widespread smoke. Winds will be coming from the north at 20 km/h, gusting up to 40 km/h, but will calm down by the evening. The temperature will dip to a cool 13°C.

Looking Ahead: Sunny Skies with Cooler Days

Wednesday, September 4, brings a high of 20°C, though there is a 30% chance of showers in the afternoon. The winds will shift northwest, gusting up to 50 km/h, and smoke will continue to linger. Expect the night to clear up, with the temperature dropping to 6°C.

Thursday, September 5, promises sunny skies and a high of 22°C. Clear nights will follow, with lows of 5°C.

By Friday, September 6, temperatures will rise to 27°C with clear skies, making for a perfect start to the weekend.

Wardrobe Tips

With the cool overnight lows and daytime smoke, you’ll want to dress in layers. Start the day with something light, but pack a sweater or jacket for the cooler evenings. And if you’re heading outdoors, especially while the air quality remains poor, consider wearing a mask to protect your lungs.
