DRYDEN – NEWS – A collaborative investigation by the Red Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with support from the Dryden OPP CSCU and the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service, has led to the arrest and charging of a Hamilton man in connection with drug trafficking activities.
On August 28, 2024, just before 6:00 p.m., officers apprehended the individual at the Sioux Lookout Airport, where he was found in possession of a significant quantity of cocaine. This arrest underscores the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat the trafficking of illicit drugs in Northwestern Ontario.
The accused, Sebastion Ortiz-Carswell, 21, of Hamilton, now faces a serious charge under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
Ortiz-Carswell has been remanded into custody and is awaiting a court appearance before the Ontario Court of Justice.
