Fatal Collision Under Investigation by Greenstone OPP

GREENSTONE, Ontario, August 30, 2024 – The Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a tragic motor vehicle collision that resulted in the death of one individual and left another seriously injured.

The incident occurred on August 29, 2024, at approximately 6:40 p.m. on Highway 11, near mile marker 1062. Emergency services, including members of the Greenstone OPP Detachment and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded swiftly to the scene of the single-vehicle collision.

Tragically, one passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another passenger sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital by EMS for urgent medical treatment.

The investigation is being assisted by the OPP North West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team and OPP Collision Reconstructionists, who are working diligently to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Highway 11 was closed for an extended period to facilitate the investigation and ensure public safety. The road was reopened at approximately 5:00 a.m. on August 30, 2024.
