DRYDEN – News – A thorough investigation by the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with vital assistance from the Red Lake OPP CSCU, Northwest Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), and Canine Unit, has resulted in drug trafficking charges against two individuals in Dryden.
The operation started on August 26, 2024, beginning just after 10:00 a.m. when Jodie Beaulne, 48, of Dryden, was arrested for possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime at a local business on Whyte Avenue.
The investigation continued later that day, at approximately 2:00 p.m., with the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Van Horne Avenue.
During the search, officers discovered a significant quantity of cocaine, Canadian currency, and other evidence pointing to drug trafficking activities. An individual connected to the investigation was also found at the address.
As a result of the investigation, both Jodie Beaulne and Mogga Baraba, 20, of Calgary, have been charged with the following offenses under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act:
- Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5000
In addition, Mogga Baraba faces further charges for failure to comply with a release order (two counts).
Jodie Beaulne has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on September 23, 2024. Mogga Baraba remains in custody and is set to appear in court at a later date.
