THUNDER BAY, ON – A late-night nap in a fast food drive-through has led to impaired driving charges for a Windsor resident.
Thunder Bay Police Service officers from the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to a restaurant in the 700 block of Memorial Avenue just before 1 a.m. on Wednesday, August 28, after receiving reports of a suspected impaired driver. Upon arrival, officers discovered a vehicle parked in the drive-through lane with the driver asleep behind the wheel.
After waking the driver, officers observed several signs of impairment. The 41-year-old woman from Windsor was arrested on the scene and transported to police headquarters for further testing and processing.
She now faces two serious charges under the Criminal Code of Canada:
- Impaired Operation of a Vehicle
- Operation of a Motor Vehicle While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
These charges carry severe penalties, including potential jail time, fines, and a driving prohibition upon conviction. The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date. Additionally, her vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
