THUNDER BAY – NEWS – Police are continuing to investigate an incident that took place at an outdoor swimming pool last month and are looking to identify an individual who provided assistance.
Emergency services personnel, including Thunder Bay Police Service officers with the Primary Response branch, responded to the Art Widnall Pool on Minnesota Street just after 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, after receiving reports of a youth male in medical distress.
The male was attended to at the scene by pool staff and paramedics. The male, who had been transported to a medical facility in southern Ontario for further treatment, has since been released from hospital.
Members of the Major Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit became involved in the ongoing investigation. Investigators have spoken to multiple witnesses and people present at the pool when the situation occurred.
At this time, investigators are looking to speak with an individual who was present at the time of the incident and aided the youth. This individual may have important information and their account of events could be of assistance to the investigation. This person is not suspected of any wrongdoing.
This individual, their parents/guardians, or anyone who knows the identity of this individual, are asked to contact police.
