Thunder Bay Man Arrested After Fleeing Police and Assaulting Officer

A Thunder Bay resident faces multiple charges after assaulting an officer and attempting to evade arrest on Red River Road

THUNDER BAY – NEWS – A local man is facing several charges following an incident in which he assaulted a police officer and attempted to flee arrest. The Thunder Bay Police Service’s Break and Enter and Robbery (BEAR) Unit attempted to apprehend the suspect, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant, outside a business in the 900 block of Red River Road on Thursday, August 8.

During the arrest attempt, the suspect resisted and assaulted the officer before fleeing the scene on foot. The suspect’s efforts to evade capture included jumping over fences and running across roadways.

Police were able to locate and arrest the suspect a short time later.

Quinn Cheechoo, 30, of Thunder Bay, has been charged with Assaulting a Peace Officer, Resisting a Peace Officer, and Failure to Comply with a Probation Order. He appeared in court on Friday, August 9, and has been remanded into custody.
