Three Youth Charged Following Threats Incident in Whitesand First Nation

Whitesand First Nation – NEWS – Three youth are facing charges following a threats-related incident in Whitesand First Nation.

On August 3, 2024, at approximately 8:30 p.m., officers from the Armstrong Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call about threats made at a residence in the community.

As a result of the investigation, OPP advise that the three youths involved have been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code. Due to their ages, they cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA). The charges are as follows:

  • A 14-year-old has been charged with:
    • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
    • Uttering Threats – Damage Property
    • Conspiracy to Commit Summary Conviction Offence (three counts)
  • A 16-year-old has been charged with:
    • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
    • Conspiracy to Commit Summary Conviction Offence (two counts)
  • Another 14-year-old has been charged with:
    • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
    • Conspiracy to Commit Summary Conviction Offence

The accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay at a later date.
