Thunder Bay Police Bust Drug Trafficking Operation, Seize Substantial Quantities of Suspected Cocaine and Firearm

Thunder Bay – In a significant drug trafficking investigation, the Thunder Bay Police Service has apprehended one individual and confiscated a substantial quantity of suspected illegal substances, including one kilogram of suspected cocaine, along with a loaded firearm.

Following an intelligence-led investigation that commenced in April, members of the Thunder Bay Police Service Intelligence Unit obtained search warrants for two residences in connection with suspected drug trafficking activities.

On Tuesday, July 30, in the afternoon, a coordinated operation involving the Intelligence Unit and Emergency Task Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on Victoria Avenue East. A male suspect was apprehended at the scene, and subsequent searches of the residence resulted in the seizure of quantities of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, and oxycodone.

Shortly thereafter, a second search warrant was executed at an Albany Street residence. This search led to the discovery of a loaded firearm, along with quantities of suspected cocaine and fentanyl, as well as a substantial sum of cash.

The total amount of suspected cocaine seized in the operation amounted to nearly one kilogram, with approximately 200 grams each of crack cocaine and fentanyl also being confiscated. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is $200,000, while the cash seized is estimated to be around $10,000.

Alfred AMOA-YEBOAH, 29, has been charged with multiple offenses, including Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking x2, Possession of Proceeds of Crime over $5,000, Possession of a Loaded Prohibited Firearm, Careless Storage of a Firearm, Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to a Prohibition Order.

Following a court appearance on Wednesday, the accused was remanded into custody with a future court date pending. Remember all accused under our system of justice are considered innocent until proven guilty.
