Severe Weather Alert for Northwestern Ontario

FORT FRANCES – WEATHER – A Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Atikokan, Shebandowan, and Quetico Park is in effect. Conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail, and heavy rain.

Hazardous Weather Conditions

Expected Hazards:

  • Torrential Downpours: Up to 50 mm of rain could fall within an hour.
  • Strong Wind Gusts: Winds may reach speeds of up to 90 km/h.
  • Hail: Hailstones ranging in size from nickels to ping-pong balls.

  • The watch is in effect from today through this evening.

  • Large Hail: Can damage property and cause injury.
