Current Fire Status
No new wildland fires were confirmed in the Northwest Region by the early evening of July 21. However, one new fire was confirmed during the evening of July 20:
- Red Lake 7 (RED007): Located outside the western boundary of Woodland Caribou Provincial Park, approximately 13 kilometers northwest of Job Lake and 25.8 kilometers east of the Manitoba border. This 0.4-hectare fire is now under control.
There are currently six active fires in the Northwest Region:
- 1 fire is not under control
- 1 fire is being held
- 1 fire is under control
- 3 fires are being observed
- 1 fire has been called out in the past 24 hours
Fire Hazard Levels
The fire hazard ranges from moderate to high across the Northwest Region, with isolated pockets of low hazard around Eabametoong First Nation and Quetico Provincial Park. For detailed information, please check our Interactive Map.

Help Fight Forest Fires: Stay Clear of Waterbombers! When waterbombers approach a body of water to scoop water, move close to the shore to allow them to perform their tasks safely. Waterbombers will not scoop from lakes or rivers if watercraft pose a safety hazard. Your cooperation is crucial for effective firefighting operations.

- North of the French and Mattawa Rivers: Dial 310-FIRE to report a wildland fire.
- South of the French and Mattawa Rivers: Dial 9-1-1 for immediate assistance.
