Armed Suspect Apprehended in Kejick Bay, Public Safety Alert Lifted

KEJICK BAY, ON – The Lac Seul Police Service (LSPS) and Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have announced that the armed and dangerous individual at large in Kejick Bay has been apprehended. The public safety alert issued earlier today has been lifted, and residents are no longer required to shelter in place.

On July 18, 2024, police received a report of an individual in the community possibly armed with a firearm. In response, the OPP issued a Public Safety Alert, advising residents of Kejick Bay, Lac Seul First Nation, to shelter in place for their safety.

An extensive search and investigation were immediately launched, involving LSPS officers, Sioux Lookout OPP officers, OPP Emergency Response Team members, and canine units. The suspect was apprehended without harm to the public or law enforcement.

The OPP thanks the public for their cooperation during this investigation. The safety and security of our community are our top priorities, and we are committed to ensuring all residents feel safe and protected. We also extend our gratitude to the officers whose dedication and bravery are integral to maintaining community safety.
