Pennsylvania State Police Identify Victims from Butler County Rally Shooting

BUTLER, PA, July 09, 2024 – The Pennsylvania State Police have released the names of the three individuals who were shot during the attempted assassination of former President Trump at a rally in Butler County Saturday.

Identified Victims

The tragic incident resulted in the death of Corey Comperatore, 50, from Sarver, PA. The second victim, David Dutch, 57, from New Kensington, PA, is currently in stable condition. James Copenhaver, 74, from Moon Township, PA, is also in stable condition.

Colonel Christopher Paris, the Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner, expressed his condolences: “These victims and their families are certainly in our thoughts today. The Pennsylvania State Police continue to work tirelessly alongside our federal, state, and local partners as this investigation continues.”


Governor’s Response

In response to the incident, Governor Josh Shapiro has ordered that United States and Commonwealth flags on all Commonwealth facilities, public buildings, and grounds across Pennsylvania be flown at half-staff in honor of Corey Comperatore. The Governor also extended his prayers to the two injured individuals and their families, reflecting the sentiments of all Pennsylvanians.
