Donald Trump Safe After Incident at Butler, Pennsylvania Rally
Donald Trump’s campaign confirmed he is “fine” following an incident at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, where apparent gunshots were heard. Trump was swiftly removed from the stage by Secret Service agents.
“President Trump thanks law enforcement and first responders for their quick action during this heinous act,” said spokesman Steven Cheung. “He is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility. More details will follow.”
The Secret Service assured the public, stating, “the former President is safe.”
During the rally, Trump was showcasing a chart on border crossings when sudden bangs echoed through the crowd. Trump appeared to reach for his neck, with blood visible on his face. He quickly ducked behind the riser as his protective detail rushed to his side amid the crowd’s screams.
Despite the chaos, Trump soon stood back up and pumped his fist, to the crowd’s cheers. His motorcade then left the venue, and his current condition remains unknown. Local police began evacuating the fairgrounds, treating the site as a crime scene.
President Joe Biden has been briefed on the incident, according to the White House.
Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., shared a photo on X showing Trump with a raised fist and a bloody face, captioned: “He’ll never stop fighting to Save America.”
Several prominent Republicans, including North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, and Ohio Sen. JD Vance, expressed concern for Trump. Rubio shared an image of Trump being escorted off stage, with the words, “God protected President Trump.”
Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, a Democrat, also commented on the incident via X, emphasizing that “violence targeted at any political party or leader is absolutely unacceptable. It has no place in Pennsylvania or the United States.”
