THUNDER BAY – WEATHER – Brace yourselves, Thunder Bay! A heat event is set to kick off today and will likely persist through the weekend.

Starting today, a hot airmass will settle over the area, pushing daytime temperatures up to around 29 degrees Celsius, with humidex values soaring to near 35. Nighttime won’t bring much relief, as temperatures will only dip to around 18 degrees Celsius.

However, a break is in sight, with a cooler airmass expected to arrive by Sunday night or Monday.

Health Advisory:

Extreme heat can pose health risks for everyone. Here are some tips to stay safe:

  • Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water regularly, even if you don’t feel thirsty. Thirst is not a reliable indicator of dehydration.
  • Plan Activities Wisely: Try to schedule outdoor activities during the cooler parts of the day to minimize heat exposure.
  • Vehicle Safety: Never leave people, especially children, or pets inside a parked vehicle, even for a short time.

Stay cool, Thunder Bay, and take care of yourself and those around you during this heatwave!
