GERALDTON, ON – A local resident has been charged with impaired driving following a motor vehicle incident.
On July 9, 2024, at approximately 7:00 a.m., officers from the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 11, between Geraldton and Jellicoe.
Upon investigation, it was determined that the driver was impaired. The individual was arrested and transported to the Greenstone OPP Detachment for further testing. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
Charges and Court Appearance
A 37-year-old resident of Geraldton has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Highway Traffic Act with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Fail to Have Insurance Card
The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Geraldton on July 25, 2024.
