One Arrested Following Early Morning Gunshot Report on Simpson Street

THUNDER BAY – Police are investigating an early morning weapons incident that resulted in one arrest.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded to a residence in the 900 block of Simpson Street shortly after 5 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, following reports of a possible gunshot. A suspect was located within the residence and taken into custody.

The Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Identification Unit have joined the ongoing investigation. A police presence is expected to remain visible in the area as the investigation continues.

Josh Silva, 35, of Thunder Bay, faces charges of Attempted Murder using a Restricted or Prohibited Firearm, Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition, and Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. Silva appeared in court on Wednesday and has been remanded into custody, with a future court appearance scheduled.
