Loaded Handgun Found During Pre-Boarding Screening
A 32-year-old man has been arrested and faces multiple firearms charges after airport security discovered a loaded handgun during pre-boarding screening at the Thunder Bay Airport on Wednesday, June 19.
Incident Details
At approximately 8 p.m., Thunder Bay Police Service officers from the Primary Response Branch were dispatched to the Thunder Bay Airport following a weapons call. Airport security had identified a passenger carrying a suspected firearm during routine pre-boarding screening.
Arrest and Seizure
Responding officers promptly located and arrested the suspect. The firearm, confirmed to be loaded, was seized at the scene.
Charges
Calvin Edward Godin, 32, of Geraldton, has been charged with:
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon
- Failure to Comply with Probation
- Possession of a Weapon Contrary to a Prohibition Order (2 counts)
Godin appeared in court on Thursday and has been remanded into custody pending a future court date.
