Northeast Fire Region Update (June 11, 2024, 17:30)

Sudbury – Wildfire Update – There was one new wildfire confirmed on June 11 in the Northeast Region. Currently, three active fires are being managed:

  • Bancroft 7 (BAN007): 0.1 hectares, not under control, located in Kawartha Highlands Provincial Park. One FireRanger crew is on-site.
  • Cochrane 8 (COC008): 35 hectares, being observed, located 57.5 km northwest of Moosonee.
  • Cochrane 9 (COC009): 6022 hectares, not under control, located 3 km east of Parson Lake and 8 km west of the Quebec border, with five crews committed.

Fire Hazard Levels:

  • High: Espanola to Sault Ste Marie, north to Chapleau and Wawa.
  • Moderate: Greater Sudbury, north through Timmins to Moosonee.
  • Low: East and south of Temagami and North Bay.

Safety Reminders:

  • Stay clear of waterbombers: Move to shore when waterbombers approach.
  • No Drone Zone: Flying drones near fires is dangerous and illegal.

  • North of French and Mattawa rivers: Dial 310-FIRE.
  • South of French and Mattawa rivers: Dial 9-1-1.
