Dryden Resident Facing Additional Charges After Domestic Call

(DRYDEN, ON) – It was not a calm start to June in Dryden for the OPP.

Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged an individual following a domestic call for service. On May 31, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers responded to an incident at a residence on Duke Street in Dryden. As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old individual has been charged under the Criminal Code with three counts of Adult Failure to Comply with Release Order (other than to attend court). The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden at a later date. The OPP will not release names to protect the victim’s identity. Individuals experiencing intimate partner violence are encouraged to seek assistance from local resources or contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. In immediate danger, dial 9-1-1.

Local Resident Facing Impaired Charges

The Dryden OPP Detachment have arrested and charged an individual after receiving a call regarding a possible impaired driver. On June 1, 2024, at approximately 9:00 a.m., officers responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 105 in Wabigoon Township. Upon locating the vehicle, officers initiated a traffic stop and determined the driver was intoxicated by drugs or alcohol. Russell Rowat, 64, of Dryden, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with the following offenses: Adult Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, Adult Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus), Adult Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available, and Adult Possess Unmarked Cigarettes. Rowat has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on July 22, 2024. The OPP continues to enforce laws against impaired driving and urges the public to report suspected impaired drivers by calling 9-1-1.

OPP Lay Assault Charges on Ignace Resident

The Dryden OPP Detachment have arrested and charged an individual with assault. On June 1, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to an incident at a residence on Carlson Drive in Ignace Township. Following the investigation, a 31-year-old individual has been charged under the Criminal Code with Adult Assault. The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on July 15, 2024. The OPP will not release names to protect the victim’s identity. Individuals experiencing intimate partner violence are encouraged to seek assistance from local resources or contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122. In immediate danger, dial 9-1-1.
