Reported Impaired Driver Sparks OPP Response
SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON – The Sioux Lookout Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) swiftly responded to a traffic complaint regarding a suspected impaired driver on December 25, 2023. The incident occurred at a local business situated on Fifth Avenue South in the Municipality of Sioux Lookout, triggering a prompt police reaction.
Investigation Reveals Alcohol Impairment
Upon receiving the report, OPP officers located the vehicle in question and initiated a traffic stop. Subsequent investigation determined that the driver was operating the motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. As a result, the driver was taken into custody and transported to the Sioux Lookout OPP Detachment for further testing.
Charges Laid Against Alphonse TETROE
The individual identified as Alphonse TETROE, aged 25 and hailing from Dryden, has been arrested and is now facing multiple charges. These charges, encompassing violations under the Criminal Code, Cannabis Control Act, and Highway Traffic Act, include:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
- Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence
- Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
Mr. TETROE has been released from custody and is slated to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sioux Lookout on February 27, 2024.
