Thunder Bay – SPORTS – Get ready for a thrilling weekend as the Thunder Bay Kings hit the ice in the Greater Toronto Hockey League! We’ve got three of our dynamic Kings’ clubs – the under-13, U16, and U18 teams – gearing up for an action-packed series of games across Toronto.
These young hockey talents will showcase their skills in a packed schedule, hitting the rink four times in just three days. They’re all set to play once on Friday, go double-header style on Saturday, and wrap it up with one final showdown on Sunday. Fans, you’re in for a treat at various venues in the bustling metropolis of Toronto.
Let’s break down the game schedule for our Kings:
Friday, Dec. 8:
- The U13 team faces off against the Toronto Red Wings at 7:25 p.m. at Herb Carnegie.
- The U18 squad challenges the Reps Hockey Club at 8:30 p.m. over at Westwood 1.
- And the U16 team takes on the Markham Majors at 8:40 p.m., back at Herb Carnegie.
Saturday, Dec. 9:
- The U13s are up against the Mississauga Rebels at 10:40 a.m. at Westwood 1.
- The U16 team battles the same Rebels at 12:10 p.m. on Westwood 2.
- U18s face off against the Rebels too, at 12:25 p.m. on Westwood 5.
- Then, the U13s meet the Toronto Marlboros at 3:45 p.m. at Westwood 1.
- U18s go against the Toronto Young Nationals at 5:55 p.m. on Westwood 2.
- Finally, the U16s clash with the North York Rangers at 6:40 p.m. at Herb Carnegie.
Sunday, Dec. 10:
- U13s versus the Don Mills Flyers at 10:10 a.m. at Chesswood 1.
- The U18s take on the Toronto Red Wings at 11:25 a.m. at Chesswood 1.
- And the U16s play the Toronto Jr. Canadiens at 12:25 p.m. at Westwood 1.
Looking back at last week, the under-15 team faced some tough opponents in their four GTHL games, going 1-3-0. Despite a rough start with losses to the Toronto Marlboros, Toronto Jr. Canadiens, and Don Mills Flyers, they bounced back with a triumphant 5-2 win over the Vaughan Kings. Caden McLeod, Jackson Walker, Cooper Disher, and Nicholas Rojik were key players, contributing crucial goals, along with Jace Voortman.
As of December 7, here’s how our teams stand:
- U13: 1-13-2
- U15: 2-13-1
- U16: 1-11-0
- U18: 2-9-1
