Daniel BORG Arrested on Drug Trafficking Charges in Nipigon

NIPIGON – NEWS – Nipigon OPP initiated an investigation into drug trafficking, leading to the arrest of Daniel BORG, a 47-year-old Nipigon resident, on November 29, 2023.

Borg faces two counts of Trafficking in Schedule I Substance – Cocaine, per Section 5(1) of the Controlled Drug and Substances Act.

These charges could result in serious penalties under the Criminal Code of Canada.

These are not the only criminal charges that Daniel Borg is facing.

On August 9, 2023, CBSA investigators, with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police, executed a search warrant at the residence in Nipigon, Ontario. During the search of the residence, officers located and seized several prohibited weapons:

  • 1 nunchaku
  • 3 shurikens
  • 7 prohibited knives
  • 2 conductive energy weapons
  • a cartridge for a conductive energy weapon

As a result, Daniel Borg of Nipigon, Ontario, was charged by the CBSA with the following:

  • Smuggling, contrary to Section 159(1)(a) of the Customs Act
  • Possession of illegally imported goods, contrary to Section 155 of the Customs Act
  • Unauthorized possession of prohibited weapons, contrary to Section 91(2) of the Criminal Code
  • Knowingly importing prohibited weapons/devices into Canada, contrary to Section 103(1)(a) of the Criminal Code

Those charges are still working through the courts.

Recognizing drug or trap houses in your neighborhood:

  1. Increased traffic, especially at odd hours.
  2. Suspicious and brief visits.
  3. Covered windows or lack of activity during the day.
  4. Strong odours.
  5. Frequent police visits.
