Ryan Shakes revealed to fans via social media that he has a skin condition called “cholinergic urticaria” he’s been dealing with since Early July 2023 of this year that makes him feel painful “pins and needles” all over his body, and is triggered by an elevation of heat in body temperature affecting normal day-to-day activities. The 21-year-old tiktoker shared photos from his hospital bed on Instagram after suffering from an allergic reaction.

“I can no longer do everyday normal stuff on my own because it’s debilitating,” Shakes wrote before also expressing that “This has been one the many hardest tests of my life but i’m gonna take some time away and focus on my health. Love you guys!”

According to WebMD, the hives can be brought on by things like movement, basic emotions, a rise in body temperature can also trigger a reaction to an antibody in one’s own sweat causing symptoms of cholinergic urticaria to appear. For those with the condition, symptoms mostly include small, raised red bumps that itch, which typically appear on the skin shortly into exercise or other activities that raise the body temperature.

Symptoms usually last about 30 minutes, per WebMD, though the bumps may last for as long as four hours after exercise. Bumps often appear on the neck, chest, face, upper back, and arms, though they can pop up anywhere on the body. Other symptoms can include nausea, shortness of breath, anaphylaxis, and more.

Since Ryan’s urticaria are not ‘Acute’ which means it lasting no more than six weeks, he would fall into the ‘Chronic’ category which means it lasting more than six weeks and that affects only about 1% of the general population.

Treatment for Ryan’s condition generally includes lifestyle changes to avoid triggering a flare up, but for people like the personality who might not be able to avoid triggers, there is medication available to treat it although there is no known cure.

Rarely, cases of hives last months or up to 5 years.

Many on social media commented wishing him a speedy recovery including fellow rapper Flo Rida who left three praying hand emojis and others showing love the comments section.
